Justice Served

After a long and arduous process, the two individuals who murdered my friend Bilal Russel last year in Arizona were found guilty on all charges. Those charges included burglary, attempted robbery and first degree murder.

About the time when the trial was beginning, I had finally gathered the courage to contact his mother and pledged my support as well as send my regrets and condolences. I have a hard time wrapping my head around why people put themselves in positions to find themselves behind bars.

People need to wake up. I'm glad the justice system did their job and although nothing will bring him back to his family, the perpetrators got what they deserve.

April is a joyous month for me, outdoor season's popping off, my birthday etc, but it's also filled with a lot a heartache.

Definitely heartbreaking losing anyone to violence, but especially someone close to you. Their sentence pales to that of Bilal's family and friends, however he will live on in all of you.XO

I feel your pain, and know the lost of a love one to gun violence. I'm praying for you and the family. It's specially hard on the family because not only did they lose a love one, but they have to go through the trial which really opens up old wounds. My family went through the same thing when my brother was killed
due to gun violence. It's something you never really get over. Know in your heart that you were a good friend to him and his family. His family is going to need your support. For years they will have good days and bad days. Sometimes just a song or a picture you stumble over will set you back. The support of a phone call, a letter, or just dropping by helps. May GOD continue to give you sterngth in your hour of need. I'll keep you in my prayers.
Hope you were able to enjoy your birthday.
