Little Fella Update

I had to go outside and get to the bottom of what was going on. I didn't want to be pushed to calling in the authorities, so I went out to do my own reconnaissance mission.

Under the guise of listening to Rosetta Stone (foreign language unknown), was why he was sitting in the car allegedly. I tried to coax him out of the car, it didn't seem to work.

But around 2:45pm, he was spotted exiting the vehicle, we let out a collective sigh of relief.

After a stand-off of over two hours, Crisis averted.

When questioned by Young Hearns "is everything OK?" Joel retorted "I don't have any idea of what you're talking about."

Might he be disconnected from reality? That is not normal behavior.

The Little Fella Has Lost It

Around 12:45pm Eastern Standard Time, Joel John Brown aka The Little Fella was seen strolling out of the house barefooted and bare chested. He hasn't been seen since. I take a look out of the window around 1:50pm and to my surprise, he has been holed up in his car just sitting there in the driveway with the car started up.

I don't know what's going on, but this has drawn some concern from myself along with Young Hearns. I believe it may be because Aub wouldn't send him the Trey Songz album on Skype. Hearns is blaming me for my abrasive personality combined with the fact that Ohio State got put out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Maybe the pressure of the upcoming season is getting to him or he might be suffering from "Kenta Withdrawal Syndrome".

The neighbors have come over to express concern as well.

I am a few minutes away from calling the Osceola County Sheriffs Office. Aub wants to call the Florida Department of Youth and Family Services. Hopefully it won't have to go that far.

Please keep the little fella in your thoughts and prayers.

Rap Battle

Kenta Bell aka "Killa Kenwood", an aspiring rap artist, has decided to go the 50 Cent route in trying to make a name for himself in the rap game.

Andre Sturvidant aka "Arsonal Productions", a guy who comments on the blog often, is a music producer in the Atlanta area. Kenta, somehow got his hands on a beat or two from his rap manager Aubrey "Young Hearns" Herring that Dre made.

Kenta decided he was going to start by coming in to my room with a few bars he has made dissing me! I told him that I'm going to take the Jay-Z route on this one, I will only give him a few bars:

As far as Kenta/
Who's as black as a kettle/
I aint worried about him/
'Til he can produce an Olympic Medal

He decieded he didn't want any work from me, so he moved on, plus "Killa Kenwood", who is staying the living room of MY house while he's down in Orlando, is about to find himself homeless if he continues to try to sneak diss me. LMAO

Part two of the story goes like this: "Young Hearns" alerted Dre that Kenta got a hold of one of his beats and is going to make a rap song so he can have something to get him crunk for his warm-up at the meets.

Dre's response was this, "If his raps are anything like his shape-ups look, then I don't even want to hear it!"

For those of you that don't know what a shape-up aka line-up is, that is the crisp outline of your hair, this is mainly prevalent in the black community. When you talk about another black mans hair cut, that is a helluva diss.

So we will see what happens, as I type, Kenta is in the living room with a book and pen in hand, this ought to be funny!

So we have "Killa Kenwood" V "Arsonal", I will keep you posted.

We obviously have nothing better to do in between workouts. I guess it's better than out committing crimes against humanity like other people we know.

I Set A New Personal Best..........

And it's not what you are thinking!

Disney hosted a meet yesterday, one that we were initially not suppose to run in. We entered in the meet late in the week, originally just to run the preliminary round. You know me though, if they have two races, you better believe I will run both times!

Anyway, here's were my personal best comes in to play: I spent over seven hours at a track meet. Never before had I spent close to that amount of time at a meet. Even in college, the meets would last for only four or five hours.

I got to the track around 7:30am, the prelim heat was at 9:15am. In the prelim, I ran 13.39. Joel won his heat in 13.61. Both of our times were wind-aided, you would have been hard pressed to find a legal wind out there.

So we just chilled in the weightroom until I final went off at 2:00pm. I ate a protein bar and just chilled and chopped it up with Kenta, Aub, Randy and Moushami.

The finals went off, I won in 13.36, with Joel second in 13.47. That race was aided by a 4 meter per second wind. I nearly lost it over nine and ten, I am definitely not in possession of the type of quickness needed for a race that severely wind aided. I needed June/July quickness, I don't have that grooved in yet.

The main objectives of the race were met: Another chance to get over ten, put on a show for the home fans and come away injury free.

I probably took a hundred pictures and signed twice as many autographs. This meet had a lot of high school teams and they were really excited to see us professionals compete. They had a good time, so I'm happy for them to see us in action as well.

Today will be a lazy Sunday, just post up around the house and hit the grill for some steaks and burgers and watch the Tournament. Surprisingly, I'm sitting in 4th place in our bracket challenge.

Here's the video from our preliminary and final race, enjoy.

March Madness!!

The seeds and the brackets have been set! One of my favorite times of the year is now upon us. The outdoor season is starting up officially around the country and the NCAA basketball tournament is kicking off this week.

I have plenty of memories from this tournament, from my favorite NBA player Larry Johnson leading his collegiate team UNLV to the Final Four when I was in fourth grade to last year, while taking an ice bath watching Slingbox, finding out that Stephan Curry from Davidson is a pure assassin.

I have filled out my bracket, I only fill out one per year. I think those people that fill out several brackets are lame.

My two favorite teams are Memphis and Louisville, they have the possibility to meet in the Final Four, so hopefully that will happen.

Trackshark.com Shutting Down???

Man, it seems a devastating day is upon us. One of my favorite websites that I frequent on a daily basis might catch the bullet due to these economic times.

Trackshark was the original place I had a blog. Back in 3003-2004, my senior year at Howard, they contacted me about hosting one, which I said yes to.

I think that you may still be able to google my blog on Trackshark and find out what a young D.O. was up to back in the day. I think it was pretty interesting. People use to ask me all the time when was the new post coming out.

I hope that something will happen to reverse this decision, make sure you hit the website up to enjoy it if you haven't already.

Melbourne Post Race Analysis

This may very well have been the toughest conditions I have had to race in during my career.

I won the event with a time of 13.60 (-2.2 wind), Joel ran second in 13.91. I had a very respectable performance given the conditions, cold, very windy and the occasional rain. You know it was bad when Asafa Powell went out and ran 10.28 LOL!

I am very pleased with the race, I didn't run in to the same issues I had in the first run in Sydney and my technique was right on in many areas and I ran a pretty clean race. Things are looking good for this season and these series of meets gave me something to build upon for the next six weeks until I run the open hurdles again.

I'm off tomorrow for very long travel back home to Orlando. I'm pretty excited to go home, I'm in dire need of a haircut!

Home stretch grandstand, the fans were great
Hooker clowning around during the event
Me and Gary chilling, literally
Xavier coming in with the win in the 200. He dropped 20.96 into a -2.8 headwind. Joel came through in third place in 21.45.
The Disney group has accomplished what we set out to do, the number one goal was to come home uninjured and to see where our fitness levels were for the outdoor season. We have seen that we are right on pace for where we need to be.

Melbourne Update/Pre-Meet

I've been in Melbourne for the past four days, I can say that it's not as much to do here as it is in Sydney. It's been fairly cold and rainy since we've been in town, pretty unusual for them at this time of the year, but they need that rain to help with those fires which are almost completely out according to our massage guy who stays up there in that area.

Travel to Melbourne was pretty easy, only an hour and a half away, but it definitely was far from uneventful. On the way to check-in, Hooker's pole vault poles went through the roof at the airport. You know he got away with that! He runs Australia.
We are at some cool apartment style hotel, two bed/two bath spots. The view from my balcony overlooks Olympic Park. Rod Laver Arena where they host the Australian Open in tennis and where we will be competing at are within view.
I haven't done much here, me, X and Gary went and tore down the Nike Employee store out here, I know good and well I don't have enough space for this stuff, but I'll make something happen, I always do.

Aside from tearing down Nike, I've been tearing down "Hungry Jacks", back at 4700 this would be a death penalty charge for swagger jacking. "Hungry Jacks" aka "Swagger Jacks" is a dead ringer for Burger King. Flame broiled burgers and everything.
Yesterday they had your boy in the paper again during a training session. I love the love!
Last night, we hit Australia's version of the NBA Finals, game one. It was a decent game, it came down the wire, but the home team Dragons pulled it out in the end.
At halftime, they interviewed your boy about the upcoming meet, the Olympics and how their brand of basketball compared to ours. I just told them it's comparable because both sets of athletes are working to the best of their abilities, but honestly, that's where the comparisons end. Both the teams were from Melbourne, so it was a split crowd. They asked me for my pick, I chose the Dragons, I could here a little bit of boos raining down on me from up top.
Competition starts here in about eight hours. Right now it's not looking very good outside. I can't even see the Rod Laver Arena. It's pretty cold out and raining. Maury said there is a hope that it will break within the next few hours, but nonetheless, I'm going to lay it all out there tonight. This will be my last outdoor race for quite a while I believe, so I want to go out on a good note. I want to run faster than I did in Sydney, with similar conditions, that wouldn't have been a problem, but we will see.

2009 Sydney Track Classic Men's 110m Hurdles

Happy Birthday Coach!

It was actually yesterday the 28th, but my days on stuff are still messed up a bit, but anyway......

I had a chance to talk to Brooks on the phone and wish him happy birthday this morning before I headed out to Melbourne. I honestly have no idea how old he is for real, I have always heard conflicting reports.

This man is directly responsible for the all of the accomplishments and successes I have had in the sport of track and field. Who knows what I would be doing right now if it wasn't for that chance meeting at the Olympic Trials in 2004. I'm sure I wouldn't be the #1 hurdler in the U.S. or an Olympic Medalist.

Happy birthday again Brooks! Thanks for everything.
