Injury Update

It's been a while since I last posted, stating that I couldn't compete at the nationals. I thought that not being able to compete was going to be difficult for me, but it turned out that other people were more disappointed in that fact than I was, to me, it wasn't really that big of a deal. I realize that things will never go your way in this sport 100% of the time.

My feelings towards not being able to be on that starting line were shaped by my accomplishments from last season. If last season wasn't as successful as it was, then I probably would have been way more disappointed that I couldn't compete. It was endorsement contracts, meets and a lot of other things riding on last year, but with the success of last season, I have security and I can still attend any other competition that I want to go to. I am an individual who spends more time thankful for what I do have and can do, than thinking about what it is I don't have or can't do.

As far as the calf injury goes, it's at about 85%. I am back out sprinting and doing starts over hurdles with no discomfort, so things are still pointing to a go out in London in a couple of weeks. Being injured and not being able to do what I did without thinking, has really made me miss running. It takes that old football adage "Play every play like it's your last" and puts it in to a real life situation for myself. I am enjoying every day that I go out to the track and can get back to doing what I do best.

On other fronts, my training partners have been trickling out of the country one by one for their respective competitions over in Europe. I hope that they go out there and represent themselves in a good fashion and set themselves up for future success. It's about to get to the point where it is going to be just Brooks and myself out there and I'm not looking forward to that! LOL.

Sobe Fit Magazine is coming out to practice on Thursday for a photo shoot. Brooks let me know that at practice yesterday and I was getting some grief from Kenia, Novellene and Korene for some odd reason. We will see how that goes.

First of all, LaLa, QT, Aunt Celest or whomever else, please keep praying for me because things continue to be difficult for me with this horrific dystonia disease! These last 2 months have changed my life forever! Really lost so much more physically that it has taken a big toll on me emotionally! I had to delay my trip to Pittsburgh this weekend for German family reunion and now go up on July 20, hopefully, so I can be at my grandma's 90th birthday party celebration on July 24! I'm really close with my grandma and if I miss her party, I am going to be devastated and I know how much she wants me to be there with her!
I would love to hear from any of you anytime. Please e-mail me at ejheat@aol.com or at my ejheat twitter account under Eric Jansen! I need as much encouraging words, support, and love as possible now to keep me from giving up! My faith in God has saved me to this point, but I need that special human contact! I would love to read any personal e-mails you all could send to me! Also, the disibility judge will be ruling on my disibility hearing by August sometime so please pray she rules in my favor! My attorney is very optimistic about a favorable ruling for me! I sure hope he is right! Things are just so tough right now, but I am thankful for what I have not what I don't have, and I am glad to hear you say, David, that you are thankful for what you have not what you don't have!
A photo shoot for you on Thursday by Sobe Fit Magazine. The Hercules Hurdling 6 pack so be interesting! They need to have photos of you on my EJHEAT Sobe Fit superhot rollaway bed with half your OOM-PA-PA fit body on and off the bed tapped out with Brooks crackin the whip at you to get up out of my oh so comfortable EJHEAT superfit SUPEREJHEAT red hot weather rollaway beds, and get movin over those hurdles like the good old days of last year! I can here Brooks yelling, "Get your OOM-PA-PA moving Oliver, and get with the fit fast track hurdling program with an EJHEAT Sobe Fit superhot hurdling rollaway bed!" Your blog father has spoken! That is the bottom line because me and photoshoot Coach E said so!!!!

What kind of treatment/rehab are you getting for your muscle strains? Have you ever heard of or tried Active Release Technique (ART)?? If not, I would highly recommend it. To find a list of chiropractors/ athletic trainers/ massage therapists that are certified in your area, check out the website: activerelease.com/

Been away for awhile myself. I'm glad you're recovering and have such a healthy attitude about not competing. It's important to be at your best!

Eric, of course you're in my thoughts. I hope you make it to your Gma's party too. Big hugs!
