CONGRATULATIONS BARACK!!!!

This is way bigger than any Olympic Medal, World Record, Superbowl, World Series or any other type of "win" you can compare this "win" to.

We have a Black President in the United States of America! He will be the 44th President of this great country. In January, 2009, he will officially go down in history.

I never thought I would see the day, this is emotionally overwhelming to me right now as I type this. Aub, Joel and I have been watching this ever since we left practice. Even though we knew he would win, it's official and it feels so good.

Congratulations Barack Obama. If we as Blacks can accomplish something this big, there is nothing that we can not do as a people, no more excuses! WE DID IT!!!

What an incredible night!

Thank you Jesus!

First of all, I just want to express my gratitude to the people that came before us for not losing hope and not allowing their dreams to die. Second of all, I'm happy.I’m happy this day finally came; now, when we tell our sons and daughters they can do anything, it will also include become the president of the united state. Finally, I’m afraid. I’m afraid that we will see a new rise in racial crimes due to the outcome of this election. We may have won this battle but we are still at war.
Be prepared!

Ok. Are you still on a high from this?!!! I didnt get any sleep last night, I'm just. I cant explain it. I'm giddy, happy, excited, estatic, crazy, deranged, crunk, shook. I was smiling and cheezin at every stop light, i blew my horn, clapped, and cheered all the way to work, people next to me were looking but understood.
All I can say is, "THEY DIDNT GIVE US OUR 40 ACRES AND A MULE, SO WE TOOK 50 STATES AND A WHITE HOUSE!!!" HA!!!

I don't think I'll ever forget the moment when the words "Barack Obama Elected President" flashed on the mega-screen behind Wolf Blitzer on CNN. The emotions I felt at that moment are indescribable. We've come so far as a country....lemme stop before I write a book over here!

Now the work begins!

Hi David,

I feel you regarding the magnitude of this election! I respect your opinion regarding the comparison, but let me inform you of this fact, I'm confident that Barack knew of your accomplishment(s) and I'm sure he was just as proud of you as you are of him today! Who knows, he'll probably invite you back to the White House to shoot some hoops! :)

Can you imagine how Jesse Jackson felt while he witnessed history and probably regretting the negative comment he made regarding Obama's suggestions? We must learn to encourage one another because God didn't give us all the "same" assignment!

Remember not too long ago, you stood at the presidential podium, memorialized the moment and contributed to your history by becoming an Olympian! We must all run our individual race and remain in the lane assigned to us!

We all have to take one decision at a time to help Obama change the world. If we all do our part in the change, everything will and is all right. GOD had a plan, King saw it in the Dream and last night . . . it became REALITY!!!

Reality from the ATL :)

I was so overwhelmed with joy that I cried. This is something that I never thought that I would see in my lifetime... This win is incredible. It means so much more than many people can understand...Together. YES WE CAN and WE obviously DID!

We don't need 40 acres and a mule when we have 50 states and the white house.

Praise God!!!! people in DC & Maryland were out in the streets celebrating like it was new years eve; but of course better than that beyond compare. im so proud to be black. as Pres. Obama said, this is just the beginning, we must all do our part. the best is yet to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nov. 4, 2008 will go down in history. Last night was so emotional for me and everyone around the United States. I never thought that I would witness a black man in the white house. I cheered, cried, laughed and jumped around all at the same time lol

The most memorable part of the night was when my 86 year old grandmother called me. My grandma was so emotional on the phone because she could not believe that she was witnessing a black man become President. We talked on the phone for about an hour on how she marched on Washington; and how she fought for her right to vote. She also talked about what Martin Luther King Jr. wished for and how his dreams came true on the night of
Nov. 4, 2008. I will never forget our conversation...

I'm SOOO excited for President-Elect Barack Obama and his beautiful family. Seeing such a strong, tight-knit, black family really brings me joy!...and I'm proud of Americans for getting to the polls and letting their voice be heard!

Now, we just have to pray for him, along with his administration.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA:) (Doesn't it just sound right?)

I voted for Obama and watched this incredible history happen with my parents as we were all so happy to see Obama win. Like you said David, it was bigger than the Olympics, Superbowl, and World Series could ever be, and is the biggest win for our country ever. It was great for people of all races, religions, genders, and sexual orientations to come together united as one on this historic night for one common goal. The Pledge of Allegience that we all have said in school during our lives really occurred on this historic night. I thought about you ,David, and how emotional this was for you while I was watching history happen. I was very emotional myself. Remember, I am a 37 year old white male with my dystonia condition. I have friends and family of all races, religions, and sexual orientations. I love them all equally the same and I am the most open-minded person you will ever meet in your life. David, you know by now how much you mean to my life. I comment on your blog quite often because it has been such incredible therapy for me with my dystonia condition and just helps me so much and makes me so happy. Being that our country is in such shambles right now with the economy and everything else like healthcare issues etc., Obama has got a tough road ahead to get this country back on track. If there is anybody who can get our country back on track, it seems like Obama can DO it! Let's hope so because I want to see more done in stem cell research and anything when it comes to all these healthcare concerns. Since I live with this dystonia condition, I want to see more done for this disease and all of the diseases out there that people in this country do not even know exist. We need to have more money and more research done in anyway possible to find cures for all these horrible diseases. If stem cell research can help find cures then we must do this research. I wanted to type this message yesterday but I was too tired and exhausted to type because of my dystonia condition. Just more fuel to my fire to help find cures for this dystonia disease and all the other diseases in our world. In closing on these comments today, here is a big hug for you, David. I hope your practices are going well so far. I will be with you every step of the way. This dystonia condition just inspires and motivates me more to be there for you and make me even more determined to inspire and motivate you ,David, to be the best 110m hurdler in the world. I can feel in my heart and soul that your mission 12.85 is gonna happen this upcoming season and you will be Mr.Sub-13 big time this upcoming season with those incredibly hot shoes that I love so much. Take care and much love to you my 26 year old special friend!!!! As always, I look forward to your next post and great pictures. You are simply the best and you always keep me going when I need it the most!!!!

I'm still speechless to be quite honest. What a monumental moment in time. I would have absolutely loved to have been there with you, Aub, and Joel to see first hand what your reactions were as 3 young, accomplished, black males. I reached out to my close male friends and so far, everyone pretty much was weeping at the time of the announcement. Phenomenal! Like Will Smith just said on Oprah, we as a people have no more excuses anymore.

I am overjoyed!!! The feeling as I was glued to the TV ON 11/4 and saw the electoral votes jump from 207 to 284 was beyond words.

I live in the Chicago area and had the pleasure of meeting Barack Obama at the Black Creativity Gala when he was IL Senator and was running for the US Senate. I have a photo that was taken of us and have kept it at my desk at work, and at home for inspiration when I feel frustrated or defeated by the challenges that life sometimes sends my way.

Our 44th President is living proof that anything is possible. David - keep working and striving toward your goals. You've achieved a bronze medal in the 2008 Olympics and many other wonderful awards. 12.85 is within your grasp. YES YOU CAN!!!

Take care,
Wendy
