Gainesville Meet, Not One To Remember.......

The day started off well, had a great warm-up and felt very good. That was about the last thing that went well during the course of the competition for me.

I ran 7.13 in the preliminary round, which is a decent time. The guy next to me managed to hit my left wrist three times. First, coming out of the blocks, how he did that, who knows. Second, over one and thirdly over two. I was pretty upset about that. That's one thing that I don't like about these type of collegiate meets as opposed to our meets on the pro circuit. There is a big disparage in talent levels and things like that are destined to happen. Plus in indoor the lanes are not as wide as they are outdoor. That time was still good enough for the fastest in the opening round.

In the final, the unthinkable happened, I was hit with a false start. I have never false started out of a meet before, but I guess there's a first for everything. I felt the guy next to me flinch, so I stupidly, flinched even harder therefore causing the false start. I'm not to upset with not getting to run the finals, I have no one to blame but myself. At least it didn't cost me anything.

It was great to finally meet one of my loyal blog followers, EJ Heat, he's a pretty cool guy. Sorry I couldn't give you more for your trip up, next time man!

I've already shook this meet off, I'm going to pack tomorrow for my trip to Sweden on Monday. I have a couple of meets over there, time to get back on them chips, enough running on the house! LOL.

Thanks so much, David, for taking the time to meet me. You are a pretty cool guy, too. Thanks for the autographs and pictures with me. I just sent them out at Wal-Mart to get developed. I will let you know how they turned out when I get them back. Also, I really enjoyed meeting your friends, too. Thanks to Mclean for taking the pictures of us. LaLa was so right about me being there meant so much to me, David. You are such an amazing, classy, genuine, and awesome person. I thought you did great yesterday and I know that you will be the man in Sweden and blow all your competion away.

I really thought the atmospere in that arena was terrible. I felt that the local community could have done a better job supporting this track event. I stayed all the way to the end of the event and I can tell you that the only event that got any type of atmosphere were the relay races which were toward the end of the event with less people in the arena at that time since many people had left. It would be nice to see some of those Florida Gator football fans, students, and alum go and support the Florida Gator track team. I could tell from watching them that they got some good talent on their track team.
I had a night at the Gainesville Motel 6 that I would like to forget. To keep a long story short, it was a disaster. It was so bad that the manager gave me a full refund without me ever asking for a refund. First the door jammed to my original room and I could not get back in the room. I had to go get the manager. Then after I got into the room and ate my cold food, I went over to the sink and found a lot of bugs crawling all over the sink and went into the bathroom and found a lot of bugs in the shower and toilet. I went back to manager to request another room. He gave me another room and there were no towels at all. So, I went back to the manager again. He told they were out of towels at the motel. I told him that you can buy cheap towels at the Wal-Mart that was just right up the street from the motel. He decided to go to another empty room an found towels for me. I woke up the next morning and looked up at the ceiling and saw another bug in this room. I could go on and on because even more crazy stuff happened at that motel like the fact that a maid the next morning attempted to open my door without even any notice. Thank God I had the security bolt on because I had just got out of the shower when this happened and was standing at the sink. Everytime I travel, I always have a story to tell. This whole trip was quite the story from beginning to end.
This crazy night at the Motel 6 and that long drive on all those back roads was worth it because I got to meet you, David, and I will always remember this special day and moment for the rest of my life!!!! Also, thanks for telling everyone in your blog about us meeting each other. That was really cool, King David!!!!
