Florida Relays: 13.19 Action

The trip up to Gainesville didn't last as long as it was expected to.

I had a good run in the open 110 race, winning in a World Leading time of 13.19 (+1.0w). Unfortunately, going in to hurdle seven, my quad cramped up. It's definitely nothing major, I was really worried once I finished competing. When I felt the cramp, it really broke my focus. I'm still happy with the performance but even happier that nothing major is wrong with your boy.

I broke my old meet/stadium record in the process and won a nice plaque. I've won this event the past four years

Brooks went on ahead and tapped me out of the shuttle hurdle race for precautionary reasons, no reason to potentially make a mountain out of a mole hill. So I hopped in the Jag and shot back down the Turnpike back to Orlando.

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, I have a lot of loose ends I need to tie up, so I should be able to knock most of it out with this unexpected extra day at home.

You need to rest and get your quad better. It looked much worse in the video. Thanks for posting this video and info! Thank God it wasn't anything serious! I decided this evening that I was not going to come up on Saturday anyways. I am just so tired and exhausted and I need to rest and go nowhere the next couple of days. I was too concerned about making that drive under my current conditions, and realized the smart thing to do was stay home! I did too much and I am paying the price right now! My body is cramping up on me, too! I fell asleep early this evening, and I was so out of it that I woke up and did not know where I was or what time it was. I thought it was early morning at first and then realized it was still evening. I hate when that happens! It is kind of scary! I certainly had half my body on and off my bed!!!!

The Jan 24 meeting between you and I was supposed to happen that weekend in Gainesville, and this weekend was not meant to happen for both of us. There is always something that links us together even when it is not good like cramps! I live with cramps and stiff and aching body parts all the time from my dystonia!

I am glad you won with a good time and enjoy that plaque. You earned it and deserve it! Getting out of Gainesville will be good for you. I know that Gainesville will always link us together and so many ironic things have happened to me and you linking us and Gainesville since our Jan 24 meeting! Hopefully this injury will be a blessing in disguise for you, and you will get done what you need to get done. You know I say a special prayer for both of us holding the pictures from Gainesville of you and I together all the time! God does answer prayers! I have an interesting story about how God answers prayers that I am going to share with you soon. It just happened for my birthday.

Also, enjoy the peace and quiet in your house tonight. My parents left this morning, and it was kind of weird here tonight with them not here. They were here for 6 weeks. I have to get used to my peace and quiet again. I am glad they left in the early morning because I was half asleep when they left to say goodbye. They have such a hard time leaving me, and I know how emotional they get about not seeing me for awhile. I hate to see them sad when they leave to go home! So being half asleep helped me get through that emotion!

I am going to go and pray with our picture together right after I finish typing this. This is going to be an extra special prayer for both of us, and I am going to thank God that you are a special part of my life! That is the bottom line because me and Praying Coach E said so!!!!

J Hova style...you don't stop, you won't quit...

Congratulations on the new record, you never let em see you sweat and always keep it pushin, but also have the maturity and athletic humility to know when to say when. A sign of a true athlete, thanks for the continued motivation to do the same in life.

Rest well and hope you get enough free time to handle that bidness ;)

Wow you did an excellent job. During the race, myself and everyone else had no clue that you were in pain. You could have easily stopped once you felt the cramping. But you didn't, and you kept on going until you finished and won the race. 2 Thumbs Up!!

Get some rest and work on getting your quad better.

P.S. Thanx for the add ;)

It's back to normal. It was just a cramp. I'm practicing at full strength like normal. Thanks for the concern Coach.

David you're looking better than last year in my opinion. Your legs look as though they're moving faster in between the hurdles! How the hell do you get your legs to move that fast anyway?

Happy to hear that everything is good with the leg, because as an athlete the most frustrating thing is an injury!
